This was my first Atelier game, I hadn't even heard of the series before. It unexpectedly showed up in our library (the delisted PS4 version). I checked out a few screenshots, and since I was in the mood for a JRPG, I decided to give it a try.
The Good:
- Time to Platinum: 53 hours (can be done faster with a guide)
- Characters: They fit the story and the overall vibe perfectly
- Combat: Fantastic system, even though the tutorial makes it seem very basic
- Alchemy & Crafting: Upgrading gear is a great gameplay element, though it takes a while to fully understand
- Visuals: A beautiful world with gorgeous graphics
The Bad:
- Platinum Grind: It gets tedious (crafting new recipes, grinding to level 99, and completing all side quests)
- Average Story: It is a standard JRPG plot, but instead of saving the world, you are just saving the Island
Final Score:
8/10 – If you are aiming for the Platinum trophy
9/10 – If you just want to play a good JRPG with beautiful graphics
